Hooked Oceanic White Tip

Description
An Oceanic whitetip making a pass at the camera, with a freshly sawed-off hook and bait in its mouth. This captures the challenge faced by fishermen striving to earn a living in Kona's waters, highlighting the delicate balance between their livelihood and conservation efforts for the endangered species. On one hand, these fishermen practice the most sustainable forms of fishing, yet unfortunate encounters with sharks still occur. Hopefully, this hook will rust and eventually dislodge from the shark's mouth, or perhaps a lucky diver will be able to remove it one day. In the meantime, it's remarkable to see how this resilient creature remains undeterred by the presence of the hook.
