Hawaiian Humpbacks

Description
An unforgettable day on the water turned into something truly rare and extraordinary when two humpback whales 'mugged' my friends and I for over an hour. 'Whale mugging' happens when these giants approach a boat out of curiosity and linger so close that you're unable to move. It's a rare experience in the first place and even rarer to have them for so long, one that leaves you completely in awe. Since swimming with humpbacks is illegal in Hawaii, these moments were captured respectfully from the boat. To make the day even more special, I documented the encounter on medium format film with a Hasselblad SWC/M using Kodak T-Max 400. Experiencing such a prolonged and rare interaction, and capturing it on film, felt like a once-in-a-lifetime moment I'll never forget.
